Anatomy of a Street
The Anatomy of the Street is a research project that explored the epicentres of accelerated urban transformations by comparing a trading street in Warsaw, Bratislava, Pécs, Budapest and Paddington (London).
Focusing on the perceptible processes of urban development and rehabilitation, the project examines the changing relationships between the public, private, and market sectors, as well as the interplay between top-down and bottom-up urban processes, mapping the presence of local communities, migration, gentrification, trade and industry, hospitality, tourism, and various local traditions. Organised around an international interdisciplinary platform, The Anatomy of the Street connects various discursive and geographical domains: the places, cultures, and histories of Eastern and Western Europe post-Cold War.
