Exhibition with the collaboration of the French Institute and KÉK - Contemporary Architecture Centre, about the building on Fő Street designed by Georges Maurios.
The French Institute of Budapest moved into its building on Fő Street, designed by Georges Maurios, in 1992. The building, representing an unusual architectural quality for early 1990s Budapest, has a history that is also unconventional: following the 1984 competition, construction took place between 1988 and 1992 amidst changing circumstances and a transforming political environment. These changes are also traceable in the building's form and function alterations: the exhibition showcasing the building’s history, preparations, construction, and reception, also offers new perspectives on understanding the diplomatic and architectural implications of the regime change.
