A French Connection – The conference and event series titled 'Walking on Water' was organised by KÉK – Contemporary Architecture Centre in October 2009 in collaboration with the French Embassy as part of Architecture Month.

The aim of the programme was to showcase, through international examples, the role of water-related urban infrastructures, particularly pedestrian bridges, in contemporary urban planning and the reinterpretation of public spaces. During the event, French, Austrian, and Hungarian experts shared their thoughts on the intersections of urban mobility, community space usage, and architecture.

The afternoon lectures and round table discussion were concluded with a poetry performance, which explored the theme of water from an artistic perspective, linking architecture, literature and visual arts.

The venue for the programme was the main hall of the French Institute in Budapest, in the 1st district.

The event took place as a unique occasion, contributing to international cultural dialogue and the interpretation of the built environment from a new perspective.
