KÉK organised an international symposium on the role of markets in today's cities. The conference highlighted the urbanistic, architectural, communal, economic, health, and environmental significance of markets, making visible the logistical and lifestyle elements that are such important components of our daily lives.

In Hungary, professional concepts regarding the politics, architecture, and management of markets had not reached the public by 2011, which is why KÉK found it important to convey international professional viewpoints on markets to various professional communities and city dwellers.

The symposium's speakers were architects, urbanists, market managers, local government experts, ecologists, sociologists, participants from civil organisations, and activists, who address markets through their work related to urban quality of life, local community, local economy, consumer protection, and healthcare dilemmas.
