Emerging Identities – EAST!
The German Architecture Centre (DAZ) presented cultural trends of the young EU member states through contemporary architecture in its travelling exhibition "Emerging Identities – EAST!". Emerging Identities: Through the common language of the "built environment", the prevailing trends, architectural stances, and cultural directions in the individual countries are recognisable. The exhibition aimed to showcase unique, identity-creating features through the references presented.
The focus of the travelling exhibition was the young generation of architects - more than 90 young architects and their offices were showcased - and the structures they have built, from Berlin to Tallinn to Ljubljana. In these cities, the latest trends could best be discovered not necessarily through new public buildings but through many small architectural interventions. Young architects, often still unknown on an international level, are those who define the newly emerging architectural identity of these cities. The exhibition detailed 30 completed projects and provided a comprehensive overview of the current architecture of each country.
