The purpose of the symposium was to promote the discourse on sustainable architecture among architects, urban planners, engineers, and real estate developers and to showcase exemplary projects to facilitate this. The conference's renowned speakers presented the conceptual background of sustainability as well as its practical applications.
In the first section, participants were introduced to the history of the concept of sustainability, beginning with clarifying its general meaning and its appearance in architecture. We then saw examples of how energy-conscious principles can be applied in architectural design and the criteria a design must meet to be judged by the principles of sustainability. In the conference's third section, beyond the design of individual buildings, we examined the role of sustainability in urban planning and city development. In the fourth and concluding section, participants learned about the materials used in environmentally friendly buildings or systems that ensure their efficient operation.
