InclusiveCity

How can our cities become more inclusive and liveable for all their residents?

How can the voice of less accessible, vulnerable social groups be amplified in urban planning?

How can we develop neighbourhoods in a way that transforming spaces truly serve the locals and do not attract travellers or wealthier social groups?

We are seeking answers to these questions in the InclusiveCity project over a period of three years, in collaboration with 15 partner organisations across five European cities - Vienna, Budapest, Rome, Rotterdam, and Oslo. We are working with the concept of the 15-minute city, where everyday services and institutions like workplaces, shops, healthcare, educational and cultural institutions are accessible within a 15-minute walk. The project focuses on transforming public spaces, supporting community collaborations, and developing methodologies that other cities can use to engage a wide range of social groups.

Népszínház Street is located in one of the most exciting areas of the city, where numerous nationalities live and various cultures meet and blend. During the project, we will be working with the tools of placemaking, involving residents and collaborating with local non-profits and businesses. We are preparing community events and smaller physical interventions, with a special focus on reimagining the potentials of the former post office on Népszínház Street, as well as organizing forums that support networking among those who shape the life of the street.

In spring 2026, the "Open!" festival will contribute to utilizing the street's vacant commercial spaces for the community’s benefit. As part of the "Open!" festival, we support initiatives that improve the street’s social cohesion and contribute to the local economy’s revitalisation. We connect these initiatives with property owners who wish to invigorate their storefronts by involving the community and harnessing its energy. Our goal is to facilitate mutually beneficial collaborations for the sustainable development of Népszínház Street.
