Understandable City
The goal of the project is to make the most important processes of Budapest's operation, transformation, development, regulation, and governance comprehensible to anyone through design and data visualization, thereby contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of the development of the urban environment. Our aim is to create a series of publications that clarify the rules and key processes of city operation and governance.
As part of the project, students from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design participated in an infographic competition, during which they addressed topics affecting everyday urban use represented by four civil society organizations.
From the submitted materials, we organized an exhibition at MÜSZI, showcasing the best student works. During the opening, we awarded the posters judged to be the best by the jury, followed by a roundtable discussion with the organizations that developed the topics, discussing public interest city communication. The awarded graphic designers are continuing to work with the civil organizations to transform the posters created on the 4 topics into publications.
Participating organizations and topics: · Information about KENYSZI (Central Electronic Registry for Service Users) (The City is for All group) · The effects of climate change in the city (Energiaklub) · Urban surveillance cameras in Budapest (Hungarian Civil Liberties Union) · Vacant properties and interim use (KÉK, Lakatlan project)
The posters are available via this link.
