The Centre for Contemporary Architecture and Brick Visual organised a two-day architecture conference focused mainly on visualisation, titled The Viz Business, at A38 on 10th and 11th May 2019. Presentations, roundtable discussions, exhibitions, and a demo day demonstrated how architectural visualisation, which has become a distinct industry, supports architectural practice and business development beyond professional renditions.
The Viz Business conference showcased best business practices and the field of architectural visualisation. Despite having world-class professionals in Hungary, the latter is still relatively unknown, similar to other digital professions.
It is now difficult to imagine an architectural competition, especially for larger projects, where illustrative visualisations are not necessary. These visualisations present not just the future image of a building but its context, life, and even future use.
Using the tools of storytelling, these images, animations, and even VR projects can persuade clients and enable design modifications before actual implementation, at a fraction of the cost, akin to rapid prototyping.
KÉK and Brick Visual compiled a comprehensive programme and showcased international practices over two days, involving offices such as Zaha Hadid Architects, the Dutch MVRDV, and Norwegian Dark Arkitekter.
The conference included the Art of Viz Business exhibition, open to everyone, where Hungarian architectural visual designers showcased works commissioned or created for themselves.
On Saturday, during the demo day at Brick Visual's office, various techniques could be practically tried out, from the green room to VR products, and all day, a visualisation course awaited architects and everyone interested in 3D visualisation.
