Wikipedia
In 2013, KÉK – Contemporary Architecture Centre launched its Wikipedia project with the aim of enhancing the domestic and international recognition of contemporary Hungarian architecture. The initiative aimed to ensure that the key figures of Hungarian contemporary architecture are appropriately represented in the widely-used online knowledge space – on Wikipedia.
As part of the project, KÉK engaged volunteers, architecture students, and editors to develop new Wikipedia articles in Hungarian and – occasionally – in English. During the article edits, maintaining professional credibility and documentation based on public sources were fundamental considerations.
Results
Within the framework of the project, the Wikipedia pages of the following architects were created, among others:
Zsófia Csomay
Tamás Getto
Zsolt Gunther
László Kalmár
Péter Kis
Iván Nagy
Zorán Patartics
Margit Pelényi
Ferenc Potzner
Attila Turi
The initiative contributed to increasing the visibility of Hungarian contemporary architecture and created a publicly accessible knowledge base that remains useful in the long term. The project also encouraged more active participation from young professionals and enthusiasts in open knowledge sharing.
